A Visit From Grandmai

it's been a long time
since I left
I've just come back to see
if things are the way I left them
for those who belonged to me
it's been longer than I thought
the years, grey hairs to you
have brought
and I just have to ask....
do little girls still play with dolls
and little boys their trains
do flowers grow and flourish
after the life giving rains
do trees still bow before the wind
does summer sun shine bright
it seems a darker place to me
is everything all right
I can't stay but a minute
so I really need to know
that everyone is doing well
all those that I loved so
I feel my time is running out
and I must say goodbye
I'll try to come back once again
in the dear old bye and bye
just answer this before I go
the one thing that I want to know
do little girls still play with dolls

  2. Oh, Delores! That is one of the most poignant poems I have ever read. Such a sweet/sad expression of what grandmas feel. Thank you.

  3. Lovely. And yes, little girls do still play with dolls. And with trains.
