Poetry Monday

Poetry Monday is the brain child of Diane of On The Alberta Montana Border.  You can find her in my sidebar.  Once a week Diane comes up with a theme for us which we can use or ignore ...  whatever works for us.  This week the theme is all the life generated by the rain...the leaves and the flowers.  I'm afraid I've wandered a tad off course with this one long as we write we're good...right???

the universe weeps for us
trapped here on our little planet
hurtling through space
drawing our energy from the sun
we of the grandiose dreams
of conquering..ruling space
she knows better
(oh yes, I see the universe as a she..don't you?)
she knows our feet
are made of clay
and are rooted here
to stay
and so she weeps for us
her tears are cleansing
life giving
she knows
the sun notwithstanding
there is no life
without the rain

Like I said...a tad off course this week for me.  Why not give it a shot?  It's fun and it's free...what could go wrong...right???

  1. I love it.
And is a more positive and hopeful piece than a poem I wrote when I was still at school.
Man you make the same mistakes all the time.
    Reaching, grasping with insatiable greed.
    Until you over-reach yourself.
And are humble for a while.
    Then it starts again,
    and again till you die.

    1. had such a clear vision at a young age.

    2. Wow, EC! The old 'Pride cycle' perfectly described.
P.S. I never wrote anything this good in school!

  2. I like this and the universe is definitely a she.

  3. That is a truly beautiful poem. You have so much talent.

  4. Needing a few more of those 'universal' tears right now. The snow's gone, but the rains are holding back . . .

  5. Of course the Universe is a "She"!!!

    Good poem, Delores... :)

  6. That was not off course as far as i can tell. It was excellent!

It's lovely to know someone else is out there. Please leave me a comment...pretty please.
