Poetry Monday

Poetry Monday is brought to us by Diane of On The Alberta Montana Border.  You can find her in my sidebar.  Each week Diane provides us with a prompt which we can use to inspire us or ignore totally and wing it.  Most of the time we use her prompt because she’s so darn good at it.
This week the prompt is ‘ignorance’.  I was stuck.  I have words but they are not poetry.  So, here are my words with an apology that they are not truly poetry.

Ignorance….. a lack of information on a given subject
or perhaps
the lack of desire to attain information on a given subject.
All of us are ignorant about something;
science, geography, history, something….
why people behave as they do,
how certain cultures see things,
what our place in the universe is….
Ignorant….that’s us, all of us.
The important thing is to be willing to learn,
to open your mind
and your eyes
and not be too ignorant to want to learn.
When someone calls you ignorant
You must reply,
“Yes I am, can you teach me?”
Let’s make the world
a less ignorant place.

  1. This is indeed poetry. Lovely, hopeful poetry. Thank you.

  2. It is almost a poem I think, perhaps poetic prose.
Ignorance plays a large part in my life.

  3. Ignorant am I, but I believe that I am never too old to learn ( except for tech stuff).

  4. It's very readable poetry, which is the kind I tend to enjoy most, Delores. And it has a great lesson in it. Well done; I sweated over this topic all week!

It's lovely to know someone else is out there. Please leave me a comment...pretty please.
