Poetry Monday

Poetry Monday is the brain child of Diane of On The Alberta Montana Border (you can find her in my side bar).  Each week Diane provides us with a theme which we can use to inspire us or simply ignore and wing  it.  This week the theme is, 'in the yard'.

all winter long
I gaze outside
my impatience
I barely hide
to get back out
and grub about
lay in the grass...
it makes me pout
to see the snow
and nothing grow
out in my yard
but then comes spring
and with it the sun
is that a dandelion
all summer long
I gaze outside
my impatience
I barely hide
to put away
my gardening tools
those weeds that make us
look like fools
keep cropping up
and up
and up
come on snow
come back
to my yard

well, it's true isn't it?

  1. Smiling here.
The weeds triumph over here. And we don't get snow to conceal them.

  2. This one gave me quite a chuckle. When I had my garden, I used to do all my weeding by hand. Garden was beautiful. My mother-in-law used to come every couple of weeks and stay a couple of days and while we were working, she'd tend to the garden and plant beans amidst all my plants. Now, I've nothing against beans, but that's not a very pretty plant, grow like weeds, and can choke out my other plants. So hubby and I used to keep a keen eye out and every time we saw a bean plant start to pop up we'd pull it. My mother-in-law couldn't understand why her beans weren't going. I feel very guilty about doing that to her, but as hubby said, the beans had no place there.

    1. a week is a plant out of the right place a dandelion is a very useful herb....the right place is not my lawn

  3. Haha! It’s true! It’s true!!!

  4. We waited so long for spring that I even loved seeing the dandelions. They really came up in droves around here. Anyone want some dandelion wine?

  5. Rejuvenation set out in poetic form...I love it. :)

It's lovely to know someone else is out there. Please leave me a comment...pretty please.
