This Too Shall Pass

It's Tuesday.   The hubs has a sinus infection.  I am coming down with the cold that gave him the sinus infection.  It's raining outside.  The house is gloomy and dark so I sit in the living room in a little puddle of golden lamp light.  It's lovely really.  The hubs alternates between dozing and trying to clear his sinus passages.  I alternate between reading emails, blogging and knitting. Last night I was fortunate enough to cook two chickens so meals today will be easy which is a good thing as I'm not sure my brain can take the strain of trying to figure out what to make for lunch and supper. Hopefully the ecchinacea I took will ward off the cold...Easter is coming up and I need to be in tip top shape for the littles.

  1. This may sound weird, but I have found a special togetherness when we share our ills with a spouse. An equal understanding of how miserable we both are. I hope you both get well soon.

  2. You both have my sympathy. Sinus infections tend to last if not treated. Get him some meds for your own good.

    1. Chicken soup is good for what ails you. It's chicken casserole tonight and chicken soup tomorrow.

  5. I hope the course of your illness is much shorter than what your husband has gone through. I was going to ask if the littles would be visiting if you are still sick, then I thought: it's probably the littles that gave you the cold in the first place :D

  6. My own hubby share our ills as well. Sounds like you are doing all the right things.

Enjoy the littles. Mine are either looking me in the eyes or staring down on me. But with love.

    1. We've never taken the flu shot. Most years I don't even have a cold....this year is the worst in a long long time. I am certainly sorry to hear about that long list of medical problems you are suffering from. The last thing you want is the flu to complicate things.

  8. I'm sorry to hear you are both ill. If hubby has an infection (coloured mucus and pain) then he needs medication, antibiotics. If it is just blockage, clear mucus, he might benefit from an old fashioned steam bowl with a towel over the head breathing session or two. Remember those? Mum would sit you at the table with a bowl of steaming water containing vicks vaporub or peppermint oil, a towel over your head and the bowl, instructing you to stay there and breathe deep, after a while you could feel (YuK) the mucus clearing out and dripping into the bowl.

    1. Oh yes....I well remember the ''steaming bowl'. It was quite effective. Nowadays I soak a facecloth and nuke it for a few seconds then hold it over my face...same thing...just be careful not to scald yourself.
