Sunday

Regardless of what day it is in your part of the world, here, today is Sunday.  It is dull, overcast, damp but the temperatures are on the rise and tomorrow we are told to expect 13C and rain.  Can Spring be far behind?
I like Sunday.  The weeks work is done, there are leftovers in the fridge, no one needs me to go anywhere or do anything.....perfect.
I may knit, I may not, I may just sit here in a vegetative state and drink coffee.  I may get a collection of free books on my Kindle app and read fluff all day.  I may get dressed, I may not.  Choices, choices.  Too much stress.  I may have to go back to bed lol.
Tomorrow is Family Day in Canada...a day when a lot of stores are closed and families are encouraged to spend time together.  Do other countries have Family Day?  I don't know.  I just know that any time they add a holiday to the calendar working people cheer.  I was still working when Family Day was added.  Did I cheer?  You bet I did.  Funny though, after you retire, all these long weekends become a pain in the neck.
Pretty obvious I had nothing to blog about today.

  1. I hope to have a similarly comatose day today. I need to venture out to get some food, but after that, I"m planning to read all day.

We don't have family day in the US, I don't believe. Which is sort of amazing because you'd think the card companies or whatever would at least push it as another opportunity to earn a buck.

Tomorrow, in the US, by the way, is Presidents Day, and that's all I'm going to stay about that.

  2. Family Day sounds so, well, modern. Down here it's President's Day. Hopefully we are remembering Good Presidents.

  3. We don't have Family Day. In fact, we don't have many Bank Holidays at all. I like Sundays now that I don't have to go to work anymore.

  6. Unfortunately all of our holidays (well, most of them) were changed to be on Mondays instead of the original day they were created on to put into effect long weekends instead of breaking up the work week like say on a Wed. or Thursday. So now my husband doesn't get an extra day off for the holiday because he days off are already Sunday and Monday. He does, of course, get the extra days pay though so that good. But sometimes it's not about the money and that extra day off would be most welcome. Have a wonderful Family Day!

  7. It's not Family Day in NS, it's Heritage Day. More gol' darn LEARNING that we all have to do, and on a holiday!!

I'm sorry to hear your handlebars fell off. Hope it wasn't anything too serious, just annoying. Because there's far too much serious stuff that can cause handlebar damage.

  8. Nothing to blog about covered four paragraphs, so you did well there. I've never heard of family day, so I guess we don't have that. But we have enough public holidays without it.

  9. A country that has a “Family Day” with all stores closed, is a very good place to live.

  10. That's how Sundays should be spent...it's how I like to spend my Sundays...in a leisurely-do-not-disturb-me state! And I succeed admirably! :)

  12. Hi Delores,

I don't recall having a Family Day get together in Canada when I lived there. Seems like a great idea for those who actually get along with their families. LOL

Everyday is Sunday to me these days. I practice my thumb-twiddling seven days of the week now.

    1. Family Day was introduced a few years before I retired...so...about 10 years ago approximately.
