Hunting The Stink
Ever done this? The house has been cleaned to within an inch of its life...fabric has been febreezed....anything disinfectable has been..well..you know. What the heck is that smell? You follow your nose. Sometimes the smell seems to be in the living room other times the bedroom...so frustrating. Finally you find it....it could be a tomato going bad on the kitchen counter....in my case....it was one bad potato in a whole brand new bag of potatoes that was stinking up the house. What a relief.

Oh yes. Been there, done that. Moveable pongs can be soooo difficult to track down.
ReplyDeleteHard to track down and sometimes hard to believe when you finally find it.
DeleteI once had a bad smell that seemed to be following me around, on the bus, in a shop, again on the bus home. It was the sweat stained inner band of my cotton hat which was long overdue for a wash.
ReplyDeleteYup...when the smell goes outside with you it's a given isn't it?
DeleteOMG! I do this all the time!!!! Even this morning, there is an odor SOMEWHERE!!!!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteHappy hunting.
DeleteOne bad apple...er potato...spoils the batch. We had one person in our group last week who had awful BO. Don't know if he ever figured out why he couldn't get others to walk with him.
ReplyDeleteSuvh a delicate subject to bring up with someone without hurting feelings.
DeleteLOL, been there, done that. Usually it's because we've caught a field mouse under the house looking to make a comfy home for the winter. Glad you found your stink. Too bad though, because if you hadn't I could have said "enjoy your stinking day."
ReplyDeleteThat would have been good.
DeleteOnce I was searching everywhere, the stench seemed to hang all over. We have a two sink bathroom and one of the sinks is seldom used, the water in the trap had evaporated and we had sewer gas coming up.
ReplyDeleteThat happens in the basement floor drain once in a while. I've taken to pouring a jug of water down once a week.
DeleteSometimes I realize I need a shower.
ReplyDeleteThat gave me a chuckle for the day. Acttually, when it's a bad smell I'm the first thing I check lol.
DeleteEasier than a dead mouse under the counter, behind the kickboard.
ReplyDeleteOh yes I have been in similar situations.
DeleteDead rodent smell...yuck.
DeleteI hate that, when a smell that you can't identify suddenly appears, and hunting it down is endless.
ReplyDeleteAh but the satisfaction when you finally track it down.
DeleteWhen there is a bad smell in the house, I always check the potato bin and 98% of the time, that is where the culprit usually is. The other 2% it’s the Retired Man.
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious...I always check me first, then the hubs, after that I go on the serious search.
DeleteSo pleased you tracked it down ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
not as pleased as I was lol
DeleteHow could you smell it over the Febrese. :)
ReplyDeleteunscented febreeze for fabrics
DeleteRotten potatoes are the worst - peeeeyuuuu! And as noted, dead rodents are no snootful of goodness either . . .
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you tracked it down ...
