Friday's Confession

Two years ago I would not have had this confession to make.  Two years ago we still had all our meals at the table with a proper place setting.  Two years ago we still had 'couth'.  I'm not sure when it happened or how it happened but we have become 'dinner in a bowl' people.  We have become 'dinner on the couch in front of the TV people'.  (Sometimes we have dinner on the porch.  Somehow this seems okay.)  We have become 'uncouth'.
Every night my dishwasher is full of bowls.  Bowls for oatmeal, bowls for salad, bowls for rice bowl dinners, bowls for stew...if it can fit in a bowl it gets fit into a bowl.  This is a bad habit.
How about you?  Any bad habits to confess.  Any suggestions on how to get out of this bad habit?  IS it a bad habit or just a 'not so good' habit?

  1. I eat rather a lot of meals from bowls. Very couth bowls though.

  2. Not at all a bad habit, I eat a lot of things from bowls too and if eating in front of the TV is uncouth, then I've been uncouth more years than I can count. It started years ago when the kids were little and we were all sitting around the table and hubby decided he just had to, HAD TO, see what was on the news or maybe it was a footy game or something, but he left the table with plate in hand...

  4. Been a long time since nightly prim and proper meals at the "properly set" table where "no elbows on the table" was for some reason very important. There is not aw much couth as there used to be in much of our lives today. Sometimes I miss it, but relaxed in nice too.

  7. Not a bad habit in my opinion, if you are comfortable with it then it is OK.

  8. Bowls are good! There are taco bowls, chili bowls, bowls of ice cream, you name it. I agree, if it fits into a bowl then there it shall go. :)

  9. We eat almost every meal from a bowl. We still eat at the kitchen table, as I haven't bought TV tables--yet. Are they still called that?

  10. So good to know we're not alone in our food in a bowl in front of TV habit.

  11. If it makes you feel any better, we eat all of our meals in front of the TV, too. We use big cafeteria-style lap trays. So I reckon we're uncouth, too. :)

  12. I love anything in a bowl except salad, which must go on a plate. My husband is the polar opposite. Of course.

We eat supper at the table together because that's generally the only time of the day both of us are home and awake/alert at the same time :)

  13. P. S. I eat breakfast at the computer, if that helps!

I think whatever works for you is what you should do. Life's too short and meals are too frequent to be uncomfortable having them.
