Fun With Words

Jerry Rigged...an amalgam of jury rigged and jerry built.  Constructed in a crude or improvised manner.  First noted in use in 1959.   ie...He jerry rigged the motor so we could get back to shore.

Hosed......in trouble, broken, intoxicated and my favourite...taken advantage of.

You just gotta love Davey and Goliath.

  1. New way to use a word for the UK, but then Mountain Dew is still a novelty here as well!

  3. The only meaning of hosed I know involves a garden hose to clean something! "Hoser," on the other hand ... remember Bob & Doug McKenzie in "The Great White North" skit?

I never saw the Mountain Dew ad before but it's pretty funny.

  4. I haven't heard jerry rigged before, out here we generally hear jerry built especially about things that get built too quickly and are unsafe.
