Confession Time

I hope this doesn't offend all those lovely folk who post photos of spiders and lizards, moths and praying mantis, beetles and other such oddities.  It's obvious you see the beauty in such critters.....what do I see in them?  A whole lot of ick, that's what.  When I see photos of bugs and slimy stuff I just pass right on by.  Shudder.  Shiver.  Yuck.
Oh I certainly appreciate the fact that bugs have a place in the general plan for the planet.  We need our pollinators for example.  Bugs are welcome to have their space as long as it doesn't invade mine.
How about you?  Anything to confess this week?

  1. My partner felt like you about spiders - until he discovered Peacock Spiders. They are tiny as well as colourful. Here is a link which you can explore or avoid.
My confession? I went to a book fair today with every intention of being restrained. I failed.

  2. Delores, I admit to seeing beauty and purpose to critters --except mosquitoes, pit-bulls, rats, rattlesnakes and certain political extremists-- but have made friends with some insects, reptiles and confused varmints that get indoors by mistake. Sometimes I can just open the back porch door and out they go. Sometimes I use the card&cup method for spiders. My favorites are treefrogs who just hop into my hand for transport to a better life outdoors. To me, then, I guess the ick-factor is a matter of degree. I confess my main venom is directed at supposedly human identity thieves. Been hit twice.

    1. Well I have to agree Geo....some human creepy crawlies are worse than the insects. Can I dislike both?

  3. I confess really not wanting to be so involved, not wanting to visit my neighbour in the residential care unit, because she smells bad, and we have so little in common, so there's nothing to talk about, not wanting to go and see her budgie twice a day to uncover him in the morning and then cover him up again at night, but I do it because there is no one else. I'm hoping her flat is modified for her safety with grab rails in the bathroom, and soon, so she can come home, so I can stay home.
I confess to happily smashing any mosquito that dares to invade my domain and I guess word has got around because I haven't seen one in several years. Or possibly all the outside spiders (millions of the buggers) are getting the mosqitoes first.

  4. I don't mind most insects, except when they are in my home uninvited.

  5. All of those don't bother me...it's snakes I abhor...pictures of them...and the real live, slithering horrible creatures!

  6. I don't like them if they bite me, otherwise, live and let live.

  7. There was a time I feared such things but becoming a country girl 17 years ago changed all that. My space must be shared with all kinds of critters.

    1. At one time in my life I was a country girl too....I still didn't like the creepy crawlies.

  9. I have to be in just the right mood to look at pictures of things I would ordinarily shovel out the door of the house!! That includes but is not limited to things with too many legs and too much slime. Sometimes I can look but sometimes my stomach lurches.

Confession: I have a few days off work and I don't want to go back. Even though I don't work full days, it's still the same routine, day in, day out ... I needed a break!

    2. Haha - I hadn't considered that until you said it, because I do like my job. I just needed a break and hadn't had one for a long time :)

  10. Confessions, confessions...I'm thinking, confessions, critters critters...oh yeah Gophers, what do you think about gophers? I am outnumbered by them and do everything I can to catch and prevent them from coming back on our property...seriously the Gophers, Rats, and Ground squirrels are three I can do without simply due to the damage they cause, all others I really would have a hard time doing harm to. I never made it as a hunter by the way ;)

  11. Hi human, Delores,

There was a whole load of ick after I accidentally swallowed a fly. Wasn't a nice buzz and I burped it out.

I must confess that I did try to chase a frog once, without much luck.

    Pawsitive wishes,

    Penny 🐶

  12. Depends on the bug, but I don't like them in general. I'm not a big fan of reptiles in general, either. But lately I'm more appalled at humans than any other creatures on Earth. :(

It's lovely to know someone else is out there. Please leave me a comment...pretty please.
