Poetry Monday

Poetry Monday was started by Diane of On The Alberta Montana Border (you can find her in my sidebar.  Procrastinating Donkey joined in (you can find her in my sidebar too) and I leaped on board as well.  There's lots more room on this bus for you ... why not join in.  You can read, write, critique, share your thoughts....have some fun.  Make Monday special.
We've just had a special day here in Canada so my thoughts are still tuned in to that as you can see below.

There were bands and rides
and food
and fun
and just like that,
the day was done.
150 years we waited
and when it came
we celebrated
with fire works
and ooohs and aaahs,
it was more exciting
than Santa Claus.
That much percussion
precludes discussion
but we all knew
what we were there for.
We threw a party for a nation
to celebrate its creation.
Our voices rang out
loud and true,
Happy Birthday Canada
to you.
