Now You See Me, Now You Don't

 Invisibility

Have you ever been invisible, felt invisible, wondered why no one seemed to see or hear you, were grateful no one noticed you?  Did you learn how to use being invisible for your own benefit?  Have you ever wished you WERE invisible?
I was invisible all through high school, and, being extremely shy I was grateful for my super power and I did take advantage of it.
No one seemed to notice if I took a bathroom break at the beginning of gym class and never came back or if I disappeared in the middle of a school day and just walked home.  The mean girls never bothered me because they just didn’t see me.  When volunteers were asked for in class I had no fear of being chosen.
My cloak of invisibility eventually either failed or fell off but by that time I was a little more confident and could handle being seen.

Have you ever been invisible?

    1. It would be a good power if we could learn to turn it on and off lol.

  3. My mom and I discuss that sometimes. Unless you're extraordinarily beautiful or wear unusual clothes or have an odd-color hair or something, mostly you just blend. People look right past you. That happens to a lot of us as we reach middle age, to be honest. And I'm fine with that! Being stared at is not fun!

    1. It's called 'keeping a low profile' and I'm all for that.

  4. I've been both less visible than I thought and more visible than I hoped. The former at high school when I was a self-conscious young thing. And the second, more recently, when I attended a town meeting hoping to be incognito. A cloak of invisibility would be so helpful!

    1. I believe our military has developed something along those lines. Perhaps they'll share.

    1. So....was that a good thing or a bad thing or just a 'thing'.....I kind of didn't mind it myself.

  6. I've had my invisible moments, they usually happen at time when I'd rather not be there anyway, so that's handy. It's that 'stay quiet and blend into the background' thing, but it doesn't always work.

    1. I remember reading once upon a time, if you on't want to be noticed or confronted, just act like you belong where you are. No one will bother you. You know, I've done that and it works.

  7. I, too, am able to become invisible. It's a special talent I have! There are also times when I have no voice, and am unable to be heard!

  8. I want this Super Power you speak of... I think the ability to blend would be awesome, so long as you could turn it off and on depending upon circumstances you'd rather avoid or wouldn't mind having a higher profile in. If you are very Eccentric and different it is not so easy to go undercover unless you disguise yourself and that feels weird to me... where Weird and Wonderful does not, so I guess I'd rather stay visible since I'm used to it at this Season of Life. *Smiles* It is a fascinating subject though. 2. Welcome to my little corner of the blog world where mumblings can be heard in the corners followed by soft sighs of frustration.
