One of Those 'Special' Days

Today, January 23 is .....ta da........NATIONAL HAND WRITING DAY.  It is also, NATIONAL PIE DAY.
National Hand Writing Day is intended to reintroduce this screen loving nation to the poetry and power of the pen on paper.  I have been advised that if I hand wrote this post there is not one soul who would be able to read it.  Still, I have always had a love affair with pen and paper.  Also with pie but that's another story.

  1. Once apon a time my handwriting was legible. Small but legible. No more. Fortunately the pie thing largely passed me by.

  2. This shall now be marked as my favorite day. I love handwriting though no one can read what I write but me. Sometimes I can't read it either. And WOW do I love pie.

  3. Oh. I love National Handwriting Day. I write 90% of my stories with pen and paper before I put them on the computer. I wonder if anyone will be able to read them when I am gone. Cursive writing is such an important part of my imagination. Maybe they will have handwriting decoders in the future :). Hug B

    1. I love pen and paper too but sometimes when I get it all down on paper I find I can`t read some of it. My brain goes faster and faster and the pen tries to keep up and I end up with a scribble.

  4. I would rather write cursive than print anytime. It is part of who I am. However, both me and cursive have become passé.

    1. It gets easier and easier to just turn to the screen doesn`t it?

  5. I can't even write in longhand anymore, it is a sloppy mix of print and script.

  6. I am reduced to printing, my hand trembles so. I looked at handwriting on old photos recently. My maternal grandmother wrote a lovely, round script. My father and his father wrote perfect copperplate. All beautiful.

  7. My handwriting changes by the day. Sometimes it comes out the way I was taught, sometimes it's slanted like a left-hander's (that happens on the days I'm having trouble writing), sometimes round and regular, sometimes scratchy and illegible. I wonder what that says about me? Am I a person of many personalities or am I pathetically unable to make up my mind?! Thanks for the heads up about a day that makes me question my decisiveness!

I love pie, any kind - because if I don't like the contents it's still got the pastry, right? And pie = pastry. To me.

  8. I do a lot of handwriting each day...I've always a notepad or two beside my bed and on my desk. I have notepads galore with jottings, long and short in them. If anyone tried to read them they'd probably think it's all code. Sometimes, even I have difficulty in deciphering my scribblings!! :)

  9. Cherry pie and chocolate ice cream...to die for! I don't write by hand much anymore due to my arthritis. I did always enjoy it up to a year or so ago.

  10. I love handwritten letters and cards so much better than emails.
    However,emails can be useful sometimes!

    All the best Jan
