Hells Bells

I had struggled with the wording, wanting to get how I felt on screen without upsetting or offending anyone who may hold a different opinion.  I almost had it when, BAM!, everything went dark and my computer took over.  Updates....reconfiguring....what the heck did it think it was doing?  Time passed...it seemed like hours...as all my carefully crafted phrases melted into the ether and out of my brain.  I was going to have to start all over again, and then, casually, the start up screen appeared.  HELLS BELLS!!!!!!

  1. Sigh.
I hope your brain refinds those carefully crafted phrases.

  2. Oh, you have my full sympathy ... must be the new Windows, is it? That thing has a mind of its own. If you delay the updates one time too many, watch out! It will get mad and shut you down so it can update on its terms. I know of someone who had it happen in the middle of a business presentation ...

  3. I hope the phrases come back to you, I usually scribble mine on notepaper so I can sort out the wording.
My computer saves it updates and upgrades for when I shut it down. Mostly I click on shut down and down she goes, but every once in a while, I'll click on shut down and a message appears 'installing updates, do not turn off your computer', so I let her do her thing and she shuts herself off when the updates are finished. Then I get the reconfiguring next time I start up.

    1. That's normally the procedure here as well...I've never had this happen before and it was maddening.

    1. I find that sometimes the universe intervenes and says 'no way....do not post it'. I think that's what happened this time.

  5. Been there and it is aggravating. I think it gives you a warning and a chance to say "later" but not always.

My mom used to say "Hell's Bells" when she was angry, when she said, "Dammit to hell" we all hid under the bed.

  6. I just hate it when that happens.

  7. "Hell's bells." That's one of my favorite expressions, too. :)

All I can say is your computer is a little too self-important, and I hope those thought come back to you. (And I really don't think you have to worry about not offending or upsetting anybody with your words. You have the innate ability to say what you want to say in a straightforward manner that couldn't possibly upset anyone... unless they're thin-skinned lily-livered snivelers...)
