Do No Harm

Are you planning to set some New Year's resolutions for yourself?  You know...set yourself up for failure one more time?  I've just decided on what I'm going to do.  I'm going to wake up every morning I'm given, thank God, and get on with the business of getting through whatever the day presents as best I can.  My motto for the year I have borrowed from the medical profession, 'Do No Harm'.  If I can get through the year following this mandate I will be satisfied.

  1. Sounds good.
No resolutions here. I too hope to leave this world no worse for my presence.

  2. I never make New Year Resolutions, but I do think this year I'll make myself a promise, which is probably the same thing, but let's pretend it isn't. I'm going to lose a little weight, my grand daughter is getting married later in the year and I want to look better than the roly-poly I do now.

  3. That sounds eminently sensible. My resolution is to say nothing unkind about anyone. It should be a very silent year . . . (considering the orange President-elect will soon be sworn in . . . )

  4. I don't even think about NY resolutions. Like you, I just want to get through my days as best I can and find joy in the time I have been given.

  5. That covers all. Mine is Be Nice. About the same. Happy New Year.

  6. Do no harm is a good start. Anything else is a plus.

  8. I actually find the new year a good time to think about what I'd like to change for the upcoming year. So I do sort of make new year's resolutions. Big, general ones. And then I check on them every so often during the year. I did a whole lot of decluttering a few years back in this way. I became more active last year (until my hip/back/foot problems) using the same method. In 2017 I'm going back to decluttering and walking. The years pass so fast now it seems easier to keep track of my promises to myself :)

I do like your approach, though. Do No Harm. Can't really go wrong with that.
